Marion c. Bailey, 67, 609 E. Sixth, died Thursday at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital, where he was taken by Ellensburg ambulance after becoming ill at his home.
He was born May 27, 1912, at La Jara, Colo. He married Una Bonner at Taos, N.M. in 1936. They moved to Ellensburg from Colorado in 1943 and farmed for a time near Kittitas.
After moving to town, he worked until 1969 for the Boise Cascade Corp., was a janitor for Ellensburg Telephone Co. until retirement in 1977 and at the time of his death was a maintenance man at Bi-Mart.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Grange, the volunteer fire department, the local Riflemens Association and had been active in Cub Scout work, teaching in the gun safety program.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Una, in 1973 and later married Sonja Olson.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Sonja, include two sons, Tom and Matt Bailey, of Ellensburg; three daughters, Carla Wise, serving with the Army in Germany, and Armeda and Lorraine, of Ellensburg; three stepchildren, Sidney Benetta and Debora Dayton, of Ukiah, Ore.; a granddaughter, Jennifer Rogers, of Germany; two brothers, Ace Bailey, of San Francisco, and Byrl Bailey, of Sanford, Colo. and four sisters, Phoebie Darnell, of La Jara, Colo., Audra Hutchins, of Denver, Colo., Myra McFarland, of Victorville, Calif. and Eva Winters of Antonito, Calif.
He was preceded in death also by an infant son, Marion Bailey Jr., in 1975.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Mormon Church in Ellensburg. Bruce Sturdevant will officate and burial will follow at High Valley Cemetery. [Ellensburg, Wash. Daily Record, Sat., Aug. 25, 1979, page 6]
