Carles Irene Davis Askew, age 80, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Thursday, August 11, 2005 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. Born in Robbinsville, North Carolina on January 2, 1925, she was one of seven children of the late Jacob Lee Davis and Isabella Arizona Queen Davis. She graduated from Eatonton High School and later married Thurston Starr Askew. Carles became a housewife, assisted her husband on the farm and was a seamstress. She was a member of Walker United Methodist Church of Greensboro. Mrs. Askew was an excellent cook and enjoyed growing flowers.
Survivors include her husband, Thurston Starr Askew of Greensboro, GA; four sons, Raymond Askew and wife Carol of Greensboro, GA, Bill Askew and wife Joanne of Bishop, GA, Allen Askew and wife Sandra of White Plains, GA and Horace Askew and wife Ann of Greensboro, GA; seven grandchildren, Donna Moon and husband Tommy, Ben Askew and wife Debbie, Kimberly Fisher and husband Gordon, Jonathan Askew and wife Katie, Jason Askew, Erica Askew and Luke Askew and three great grandchildren, Brooke Moon, Ellie Askew and Abby Fisher and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters, Charlie Davis, Walter Davis, Posey Davis, Faye Batchelor, Carrie Batchelor and Ruby Kasinski.

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Walker Church Cemetery with Rev. Rick Maeser and Rev. Mike Marsingill officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Askew, Wayne Taylor, Bobby Kimbrough, William Coleman, Louie Davis, Tom Towler, Carl Jackson, J. R. Davis, Bobby Brooks, Charles Webb and Blake Batchelor. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home. Any memorials may be made to Nathanael Greene Academy, P. O. Box 109, Siloam, GA 30665 or The Mustard Seed Building Fund, 100 Scott Oak Drive, Eatonton, GA 31024. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
