Barbara Mary Campbell Batson of the Liberty Community of White Plains, died on Friday, July 31, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was 77. Barbara was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on February 22, 1938, the only child of the late Earl Thomas Campbell and Kathryn Ann Macmaster. She graduated from Christ The King School in Atlanta, GA in 1956 and Piedmont School of Nursing in 1960. On April 3, 1964, she married Travis Wilford Batson. In addition to being a homemaker, Barbara was an employee at Minnie G. Boswell Hospital for 40 years as a Registered Nurse retiring in 2004. Barbara was a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church. She was known for her kind and gentle nature and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a wonderful nurse taking care of others, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed shopping and traveling, especially to the mountains and the beach.

Her husband, Travis Batson, preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, Greg (Tania) Batson of California, Scott Batson of White Plains, GA and Bryan Batson of Mount Airy, NC; three daughters, Dawn (Derreck) Bennett of White Plains, GA, Stefanie Batson of Greensboro, GA and Sandi (Kevin) Pope of White Plains, GA; 22 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

The family would appreciate donations for funeral expenses in lieu of flowers made to an account set up at BankSouth.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Father Roberto Herrera officiating. Burial will follow at Walker United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Rocky Major, John Wesley Major, Darren Pope, Forrest Cason, Josh Batson and Keith Ellenberg. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home in Greensboro. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
