Esther Young Acosta, 100, went on to eternal life into the loving hands of our Lord on Saturday, June 30, 2012, with a farewell from her family. She was born on February 11, 1912, in Santa Clara, New Mexico, to Victoriana (Balderama) and Jose Young. She was raised in Mogollon, NM, a place where she had fond memories of times spent with her beloved grandfather, William H. Young, Aka Apache Bill, upon his visits to the area. Those memorable times gave her the opportunity to hear the stories of the life of Apache Bill, his years with the Chiricahua Apache, participation in the Civil War, as well as time spent as a guide and scout, directly from him, thus enabling her to pass the stories on to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sharing these stories was a favorite pastime of hers. She later moved to Silver City, and in 1928, married Pete Porter Acosta, with which she started and raised her family. Esther thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, of which she had many. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren are left with many pleasurable memories of times spent with her.Esther was a very devout Catholic, business owner in the 1950s and 1960s and was very active up until her mid nineties in which she very much enjoyed music and dancing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; her brothers William, Alfonso, and Jose Young; her sisters Delfina and Rosita; her children Helen, Bill, Pete Jr. and Delfina; her parents Jose and Victoriana Young. Esther is survived by 6 generations including one sister, Isabel Young Alfaro, of San Antonio, Tx; her daughters Irene Roybal (Alfred), Isabel Martinez (Pete) and Dorothy Trujillo all of Silver City; and a son Ronnie Acosta of Hacienda Heights, CA; as well as her grandson that she raised, Anthony Acosta. In addition, are her special granddaughters that were her caretakers until the time of her death, Mary, Lydia, Delfina, Rachel and Berna. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 105 great great grandchildren and 2 great great great grandchildren. Also, her dear friends of many years Evelyn, Sadie, Bobby, Gloria, Lorenzo and too many more to mention. Esther will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.
