Jervis Green was killed at the battle of Blue Licks, Kentucky on August 19, 1782 when 50 Loyalists and 300 Indians from various tribes ambushed 182 Kentucky Militiamen. Colonel Daniel Boone escaped but his son Israel died. Colonel John Todd, the great uncle of Mary Todd Lincoln also died in the battle.

Jervis Green had two brothers who also fought in the Revolutionary War:

James Green(1758-1821)

One sister Mary Greene(1755-1827) was married to Revolutionary War Veteran John Rattan.

and his other sister Nancy Greene Armstrong(1768-1856) was married to Revolutionary War Veteran Robert A. Armstrong(1760-1834)
