Alvera Louise Bartels, 87, Lincoln, died Tuesday (9/21/04). Born to Emil and Clara (Peters)Beethe on Aug. 28, 1917, in Elk Creek. Baptized on Sept. 30, 1917, by the Rev. H.F. Grupe and confirmed on May 31, 1931, by the Rev. Iddo C. Heincke at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Elk Creek, where she was a member until 1960. She then became a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She was united in marriage to Wilber Bartels on May 11, 1937.

She was a charter member of the Dorcas Society at St. Peter's of Elk Creek. She was a member of:Women of Redeemer, LWML, Chancel Guild of Redeemer; Lincoln Christian Women's Club; and the Lincoln General Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors:daughter, son-in-law, Sharlene and Marvin Knippelmeyer, Eagle; grandchildren, Deb and Rick Donovan, White Bear Lake, Minn., Sue and Tim Higgins, Kearney, Julie Knippelmeyer, Lincoln, Kimberly Pankratius, Omaha, Natalie and Jeremy Mass, Hooper; eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: parents; husband Wilber; children, Larry Bartels, Gwen Pankratius; sister, Lucille Laue.

Services:10:30 a.m. Saturday, Redeemer Lutheran Church, 510 S. 33rd St. Interment:2 p.m. Saturday, St. Peter's Cemetery, Elk Creek. Visitation:5-9 p.m. Friday, with family greeting friends 6-8 p.m., Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St.; one hour prior to services, church. Memorials, in lieu of flowers:Women of Redeemer; Gramercy Hill; St. Peter's Cemetery Fund; or donor's choice.
