"Leslie" was born five years prior to the turn of the century to Hosea Thomas Marshburn and Alice Anna Pierce Marshburn. He met his wife at school, Hettie Mittie Jarman (the daughter of Mose and Hester Matilda Shivars Jarman). They married on Dec 27, 1917 in Jacksonville, NC. Their children were Alva Cox Marshburn, James Arnold Marshburn, Thomas Clayton Marshburn, and Earl Grayson Marshburn. On Feb 15, 1932 Hettie died. (She had sustained a severe burn earlier in life which most likely contributed to her succombing to myocarditis.) Neighbors pitched in coming to the house each day helping with the boys and housekeeping. A year later he remarried Laura Lillian Davis from Holly Ridge on March 29, 1933. Their children were Addie Laura; William Leslie; Carrol Lee; Doris Ellen; Bobby Brooks; Harris Leroy; and Jimmy Ray. He passed away from complications of a stroke. He is deeply missed.
