Blaikie, Mary Irene – 66, Truro passed away peacefully, with family and friends by her side, April 17, 2012 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro following a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 3, 1946 in East Walton, Hants Co., she was a daughter of the late George and Ada (Lake) Hart. Mary loved her pets, enjoyed bowling and going on trips especially vacation trips with Pat. She worked over 37 years for Stanfield's Ltd. Mary enjoyed going to her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Gary and will be sadly missed by her pet dog, "Buddy". Mary is also survived by sisters, Dorothy Swan, Bible Hill, Anne Kennedy, Halfway Brook, Rose McKinnon, Truro; brothers, George (Dawn Winterborne), Brookfield, Perry (Patty Miller), Great Village; several nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnephews and grandnieces. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 20th from noon until time of the service at 2:00 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with service by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment in Milford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Colchester Regional Hospital Medical Day Unit or to a charity of choice.
