John Robert Archer, age 74, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Benchmark Healthcare in Monett, Missouri. He was born June 17, 1939, in Mexico, Missouri, the son of the late James Robert and Mickie (Bell) Archer.
John graduated from high school in Mexico, Missouri. He was an U.S. Air Force veteran and worked as a mechanic and truck driver.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Rhonda Lee, of Aurora; one son, Robert Archer; two grandsons, James and John Pisano; four stepchildren, Mike Kirk and his wife, Lisa, of Mt. Vernon, Roger Kirk and his wife, Sheri, of Mt. Vernon, Linda Coughtry of Buffalo, Kristi Fisher of Strafford; step grandchildren, Heather, Amber, Mikey, Brandon, Doug, Dusty, Gary, Brian and Hannah; and several great step grandchildren.
His wife Donna Jean Kirk preceded him in death.
A graveside service, under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service in the funeral home chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with expenses in care of the funeral home.
