Beth Ann (DeBruin) Seehusen was born March 11, 1957, at Oskaloosa, to Ronald and JoAnn DeBruin. In 1975 she graduated from Prairie City High School and went on to Iowa State University to pursue a degree in Art Education. It was there that she met Dale Seehusen and they were married on Nov. 23, 1979. They made a home on the family farm outside of Pomeroy where they raised their three children. Beth was a beloved teacher at Pomeroy Public School for many years. Her involvement went beyond the classroom to proms, school publications, floats, and the lives of her students. Beth was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Pomeroy. There she shared her musical talents through choir, worship teams, weddings, and children's programs.
Beth enjoyed taking care of her family and being involved in her kids' activities. She loved creating everything from jewelry to drawings; clothing to house plans. In March of 2008, Beth realized a dream by moving into the house she designed on Twin Lakes.
In March of 2005, Beth was diagnosed with cancer. The past three years have proven her courage and strength as she managed the sickness and the treatments. Through it all she kept up a joyful spirit that made her a blessing to her family and friends.
Beth rested from her battle on Nov. 15, 2008. She is survived by her husband Dale; daughters Sara (Chad) White, of Davenport, and Anndee Seehusen, of Cedar Falls; son Mike (Holly) Seehusen of Pomeroy, and grandson Parker; mother JoAnn (Tom) Farrell of Prairie City; sister Linda (Dana) Thomas of Urbandale; and brothers Mark DeBruin of Runnels and Steve (Lori) DeBruin of Prairie City.
