Clayton R. Bender, 71, of Nazareth, died Wednesday, April 01, 2009 in the St. Lukes VNA Hospice House, Lower Saucon Township. Born May 24, 1937 in Bushkill Township, he was a son of Mary (Killinger) Bender of Upper Nazareth Township and the late Clayton J. Bender. Clayton honorably served in the Army from 1954 to 1958. He was the owner/operator of the former Benders Seafood in Nazareth for many years. Previously, he worked for Ingersoll-Rand Co, Phillipsburg, N.J. Clayton was a past president of the Wind Gap American Legion as well as a life-member of the V.F.W., Naz- areth. Additionally, he was a member of the Holy Family Social Club, Nazareth. Clayton was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening. Survivors: In addition to his loving mother, he is survived by a daughter, Corinna Dotter and her husband, Randy of Kunkletown; sons, Jesse Bender and his wife, Amy of Pen Argyl and Jason Bender of Kunkletown; brothers, Arthur Bender and his wife, Laura of Wind Gap and Raymond Bender and his wife, Jean of Kunkletown; five grandchildren, Emily, Madison, Jacob, Jared and Travis; several nieces and nephews.
