DeQuincy – Lawrence "Tut" Griffin was born in Washington, Louisiana, to the late Samuel and Edna Bellow Griffin. Tut moved to DeQuincy at an early age. He worked for Guy Scroggin's Oil Field Company and later worked for the City of DeQuincy for 20 year until his retirement.
Tut was a friendly and giving person. He never met a stranger. Tut was an avid New Orleans Saints and DeQuincy Tiger fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Griffin, his parents, four brothers, and one sister.
He leaves to cherish his memories; three sons, Lawrence Griffin Jr. of DeQuincy, Anthony P Griffin and wife Brenda of Donaldsonville, Jerome Griffin of Pollock; five daughters, Charlotte Griffin Green, Debra Jones and husband Terry , Denise Griffin, Christina Dixon and husband Mario, Danielle Griffin all of DeQuincy; two brothers, Samuel Griffin of Lake Charles, Lloyd Griffin of Houston, Texas, One Goddaughter, Angela Celestine of Lake Charles; three devoted friends, Jack Marcantel, Freddie Jones, and Thomas Mallett all of DeQuincy; twenty grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
His funeral will be 11am, Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. James Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Community Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
