McGANNEY, EDWARD J. Daily Democrat - Oct 14, 1925, page 5 - EDWARD J. M'GANNEY, SMARTSVILLE NATIVE, DIES AT N.Y. HOME - Smartsville, Oct. 14 -- Word was received here yesterday (Oct. 13, 1925) of the death of Edward J. McGanney, prominent New York attorney who was born and raised in this place coming from one of the old pioneer families of Yuba county. The body will be brought here for burial in the family plot beside his late parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel McGanney, prominent pioneers of the Sucker Flat district. - McGanney spent his early boyhood in this section attending the Smartsville schools. He later attended St. Mary's College and then went to Columbia University. On his graduation from that institution he took up the practice of law which he has followed for many years in Astoria, New York. He has a large number of friends in this section. - He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. J. E. Cramsie, Smartsville, and Mrs. Mary McLeod, San Francisco and two brothers: Daniel C. McGanney, San Francisco and Frank McGanney, Salt Lake City. He never married.
