Willie J. (Bill) Adams Jr., 62, of Washington, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 13, 2009, in Lebanon, Ky., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born December 29, 1946, in Danville, Va., a son of Willie and Olla Alease Keen Adams.
Mr. Adams was an independent cargo van operator, handling cargo for Tasmanian Freight of Washington. He also had worked for Firedex and Tri-State Restoration, where he had been a manager.
He was a 1965 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and was a member of Payne Chapel AME Church, Canonsburg.
Mr. Adams was a Vietnam veteran, having served with the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the former Peacemakers Motorcycle Club and had sung in Brotherhood Choir and Saints of Harmony.
Surviving are three sisters, Alice M. Royal of Washington, Perlina Trainer of Pittsburgh and Kathryn Newsom of Bentleyville; two brothers, Andre (Pete) Adams (Cynthia M.) of Hope Mills, N.C., and Joseph B. Adams (Maryjane) of Glendale, Ariz.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 19, with the Rev. Morty Ivy officiating. Private interment will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
