Thomas "Tom" Lee Gutierrez, 55, died Aug. 31, 2009. He was born July 14, 1954, in Morgantown, W. Va. Tom was one of 12 children, fourth oldest. Tom was co-owner and business manager of the Diamond G Lumber yard for more than 30 years. In addition to his long term commitment and success as a business man, Tom was dedicated to his family, friends, and community. His enduring energy to inspire and motivate youth through athletics was unprecedented in the community as evident by his unselfish years as a volunteer coach for YAFL and as varsity and assistant coach for Grants High School athletics.
Tom is survived by his wife Carmen Gutierrez of Grants; children: Jessica Thompson and husband Rio, Zachary Gutierrez and wife Alicia; granddaughters: Lilly and Gabriella, and Michael Gutierrez; parents: Dr. Gilbert and Margaret Gutierrez and seven brothers and four sisters; 32 nieces and nephews and 14 great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Tom Gutierrez to the Grants High Student Programs, PO Box 8, Grants NM, 87020.
