Mrs. Jennie Lydia McBride Boger of 2274 Flowes Store Road East, Concord, N.C., died Jan. 17, 2005, at Carolinas Medical Center.
She was born in Alleghany County (Piney Creek), near Sparta, N.C., on Jan. 31, 1907. She was the daughter of the late Robert William and Nina Edwards McBride.
Mrs. Boger was a graduate of Ronda High School and Appalachian State University. She came from Wilkes County in 1929, to teach at Bethel High School where she taught for 44 years, until her retirement in 1973.
She was a member of the Cabarrus Black Boys Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Dodson Ramseur Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the North Carolina Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Boger was a member of Howell's Baptist Church, where she served as Principal of Vacation Bible Schools, President of the Women's Missionary Society, and taught a Sunday School Class for many years.
In 1997 she was one of six Appalachian State University alumni honored and inducted into the Reich College of Education Rhododendron Society for her professional accomplishments and contributions to education. Membership in the Rhododendron Society is the highest honor bestowed by Appalachian's Reich College of Education.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennie Lynn Morrison and husband, Bill; a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Morrison, all of Concord; one sister, Willye Velda Stevens of Asheville, N.C.; a brother, George V. McBride of Jacksonville, Fla.; and 12 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert Luther Boger.
Internment will be graveside at The Boger's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
