Birth: 1838
Death: 1908

Bockemuehl, Bernard: (TS*: 1838-1908, aluminum); "The death of Bernard Bockemuehl, an aged farmer, living two miles south of Miles occurred last Tuesday of inflammation of the bowels. He was born in Germany in 1838 and was 70 years old. He came to Miles from Litchfield, IL, where he was engaged in the saloon business. After locating at the farm where he died he engaged in the brewing business, supplying the soldiers and camp followers at Fort Spokane with the beer which he had learned to brew in his native country. After the departure of the soldiers to the Spanish American War and their location at Fort George Wright his business fell off. He was an eccentric man, well known for his peculiar traits. Four years ago his wife secured a divorce and returned to her old home in the east. Two years ago his brewery was burned and he was confined to farming and fruit raising. The funeral took place from the German Lutheran Church. He leaves no children of his own, but is survived by an adopted daughter, Mrs J M Harris, who lives near Miles and was at his death bed. He also leaves a brother near Coulee City." (LCT- Aug 28, 1908)
