Mrs. Magdalene Beran was born Dec. 14, 1853, in Czechoslovakia, died April 26, 1934, age 80 years, 4 months, 12 days.
She was united in marriage to Frank Beran in January, 18(8?)1. To this union were born 7 children. Two daughters, Mary-Fannie, preceded her in death. Her husband died in Czechoslovakia 3-6 years ago. The family came to America in 1903.
Mrs. Beran united with the church at an early age, was a faithful servant as long as she lived. She was a kind-loving mother, will be missed by all who knew her. She lived in Mt. Zion community for over 31 years. She leaves to mourn her departure 2 sons, John-Frank, at home; 3 daughters, Mrs. Rosa Bowen, of White Cloud, Kans., Mrs. Katie Walters, of Hiawatha, Kans., Mrs. Anna Mraz, of Table Rock, Nebr.; 4 grandchildren, John-Martha Bowen, Mary Smetana, Frankie Mraz; 1 great grandchild, Betty Joan Bowen; 2 nieces, Mrs. Fanny Blecka, Mary Topeka; a host of other relatives-friends. The funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. E. V. Allen officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery. The funeral hymns were sung by Mrs. O. H. Schrader, Miss Nadine Schooler, E. H. Reese, Percil Parker, with Mrs. Leo Schooler at the organ. Body bearers were C. M. Jones, Andy Dezort, Wm. Reese, W. J. Morgan, John Walters, George Taylor.
