Burial followed at the Mormon Cemetery, Cherry Creek under the direction of Stout Family Funeral Home of Mobridge.
An all night wake was held with prayer services at 7:00 PM Thursday at the community building. A procession met on the Cherry Creek Hill at 5:00 PM Thursday. LuCasta passed away in Rapid City on February 8, 2010.
Officiating the service was Pastor Dennis Thiessen and the Mennonite Church Group and Pastor Richard Nultemeier with Honorary Casketbearers Delbert Stands Sr., Al Fast Horse, Bryce in the Woods, Maris Reindl, Cleo Hale, Lance Lee, Kenneth Red Bird Jr. and William Condon. All drum groups were welcomed and music was provided by Sisters in Harmony, Mary Condon, Duane Standing Bear and Darryl Whipple.
LuCasta Mary Fast Horse-Garcia "Ta ci Waste Win" (Good Hearted Woman) was born May 22, 1962 in Eagle Butte, SD to Aloysius Noah Fast Horse (deceased) and Delia Josephine Condon Hale. LuCasta attended grade school at Cherry Creek, SD, later attending high school in Eagle Butte, SD and Idaho. She went to Clearfield Job Corps where she graduated, getting her high school diploma. From there she went on to attend college at Snow College in Ephraim, UT.
When LuCasta was 8 years old she was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She lived in Cherry Creek, SD, Provo and Salt Lake City, UT before moving back to Rapid City, SD. On August 30, 1979 one of her greatest accomplishments entered this world, her son Nicholas Jennings. On January 16, 1998 her second accomplishment entered this world, her daughter Mary Josephine. LuCasta married George Garcia in 2004 in Eagle Butte, SD. She was a very loving, caring daughter, sister, mother, aunt, cousin and niece.
Upon entering the spirit world, Lucasta left behind a family who will greatly miss and love her, keeping her in their hearts forever.
She leaves behind two children whom she loved very much: son, Nicholas (Nella Sands) Fast Horse and daughter, Mary Josephine along with 2 grandchildren, Buster and Simone whom she adored.
Also surviving are her parents, Larry & Delia Hale of Cherry Creek; 3 brothers, Floyd Clown, Sr., of Dupree, SD, Delbert (Clevia) Stands of Cherry Creek, SD and Al (Tisha) Fast Horse of Eagle Butte, SD; 7 sisters, Lena (Bob) Buck of Parkside, AZ, Crescentia Fast Horse and Cheryl Fast Horse both of Salt Lake City, UT, Carlita (Joe) Lafferty of Eagle Butte, SD, LacQuetta (Mario) Jiminez of Sioux Falls, SD, Calesta Fast Horse and Calandra Fast Horse both of Oglala, SD; her grandmother, Ellen in the Woods; uncles, Cedric Bear Flys Over Water and Duane (Jackie) Standing Bear; aunts, Rebecca Condon, Gloria Belmonte and Lenora Youngman; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her husband, George Garcia.
LuCasta was preceded in death by her father, Aloysius Noah Fast Horse, Sr., her paternal grandparents, Levi and Lena (Blindman) Fast Horse, maternal grandparents, Felix and Mary (Little Wounded) Condon, uncles, Frank, Lennis, Harold, Jimmy, Floyd, Isaac, Buzzy, George and Franklin Condon and aunts, Verna & Madonna Condon and Martha & Tiny Fast Horse..
