Enlisted at age 18 on September 10, 1861; mustered in on September 18, 1861, as a private with Co. I, 37th Illinois Infantry. Mustered out of the 9th Iowa Cavalry as a corporal on March 23, 1866.

Federal pension card: Fayette Adams, Co. I, 37th Illinois Inft. and Co. B, 9th Iowa Cav.. States alias name as Albert Henderson. Applied for veteran pension as Fayette Adams 5-2-1879. His mother Adigail Adam (with a d) applied for a mother’s pension 7-27-1912 in Illinois.
