Celestie Evaline Davis was born in Chatianangus Co., New York, Feb. 26, 1844, and died at Lahoma, July 6, 1909, aged 64 years, 4 months and 10 days. Burial was in Baumgartner cemetery, Rev. C.G. Nelson of the Methodist church conducting the services.
While still a small child, her parents moved to Hillsdale, Mich., where she grew to womanhood and where she was married to Samuel R. Thompson, January 1st, 1864.
They then moved to Indiana, where they lived for a number of years and where their children, six in number, were born.
In 1882, the family moved to Litchfield, Nebr., then but little better than a wild prairie, where the husband and father died April 27, 1894.
Eight years ago, she came to Oklahoma with her son L.B. Thompson, and has since made her home here.
She was united in marriage with Cyrus Colvin, Dec. 15, 1904, who, with her three sons, S.C. Thompson, of Eddyville, Neb.; H.H. Thompson, of Hazzard, Neb.; L.B. Thompson of Supply, Okla.; and her daughter, Mrs. Cora E. Brewer, of Oshkosh, Neb.; remain to mourn her departure.
Mrs. Colvin was well known here and loved by all who knew her. While never a member of a Christian church, her life was full of kind deeds and she practiced the precepts of Christianity. She had faith in Christ and trusted in Him to save her.
