Son of Fred and Bessie Angell, of Hill Butts, Wimborne, Dorset.
Died of his wounds at the 49th Casualty Clearing Station, France.
Remembered at Kingston Lacy. Pte George Angell A Coy 5 Bn Dorset Regiment. George was born in Bere Regis and enlisted for the Great War in September 1914 at Wimborne, having previously been a labourer. He enlisted with his brother, and as such they have regimental numbers one apart. He served with the 5th Dorsets at Gallipoli where he was wounded in the thigh in August 1915. George was again wounded on the 26th September 1916 with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He Died of this Wound the next day aged 25 at 49 Casualty Clearing Station. He is buried in Contay British Cemetery, Contay. The CWGC lists "Son of Fred and Bessie Angell, of Hill Butts, Wimborne, Dorset". Two of his brothers also appear on the Wimborne War Memorial.
