Wayne L. Abraham, age 83, of rural Janesville, died on Monday, Nov. 24, 1997, at his home.
A memorial service was held on Friday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville. Interment was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Elysian, following the service.
The family was greeted by friends from 12:30-2 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Wayne Lincoln Abraham, son of Emil and Henrietta (Quade) Abraham, was born on June 16, 1914, in Elysian Township, Le Sueur County, As a young child, his family moved from Elysian Township to a farm in Janesville Township, just west of Janesville. He was united in marriage to Mildred Elizabeth Marsh on Feb. 12, 1940, in Waseca. They resided on the family farm where he farmed until 1964. He then worked as a general carpenter and home builder in the area for many years prior to his retirement. He was a founding member of the Smiths Mill/Janesville Sportsmans Club. He loved fishing.
He is survived by four sons, Wilbert "Willie" Abraham and Wayne Jr. "Chick" Abraham, both of Janesville, Wade "Barney" Abraham of Hollendale, and Wendall "Doc" Abraham and his wife Helene of Garrison; one daughter-in-law, Peggy Reed and her husband Tom of Janesville; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred on Feb. 12, 1987; one brother, Harry; one sister, Gladys; and one grandson.
