NEW WINDSOR - Katherine L. Hamilton Lake, 87, New Windsor, died Wednesday (April 2, 2008) at Mercer County Nursing Home. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church, New Windsor. Burial will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for Mercer County Nursing Home, Serenity Hospice or Calvary Lutheran Church. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, is in charge of arrangements.
Katherine was born April 5, 1920, in Millersburg, to Grover C. and Melissa J. (McCormick) Terry. She married Waldo Hamilton and they later divorced.
Katherine was a secretary at DeMarlie Grain Elevator and Doonan Grain Elevator. She was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, including being on the church board and treasurer. Katherine worked with New Windsor Library and also volunteered with Friends of the Library. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and was a fabulous cook, mostly known for her fried chicken and peanut butter fudge. She also had her faithful companion, her maltese, Parker.
Katherine is survived by her three children and their spouses, John and June Hamilton of New Windsor, Henry and Evelyn Hamilton of Aledo and Melissa and Roddy Hartman of Matherville; a sister, Dorothy Dunblazier of Hanna City; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Don Terry.
