MRS. KOBELIK, FORMER RESIDENT, DIES IN COLORADO
Mrs. Catherine Korbelik, maiden name: Catherine Houska, was born in Baltimore, Md., May 7, 1879. She passed away at the Wray Community hospital in Wray, Col., Monday, March 23, 1964, at the age of 84 years, 10 months, and 16 days.
Her parents passed away when she was a small child. She was taken from the orphanage in Baltimore and raised in the Joe Kubicek home. She came to Milligan at the age of 18, and worked at various jobs in the vicinity until her marriage to Emil Korbelik, April 11, 1899. To this union eight children were born, their first-born dying in infancy.
They farmed in the Milligan vicinity until 1910, when they moved to a homestead near Chugwater, Wyo. In 1922 they returned to Milligan, and continued farming there until 1931. They then moved to a farm they had purchased near Burlington, Col., where she lived until the passing of her husband in 1938, when she moved to the town of Burlington.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Emil, two brothers, a son Sylvester of Redding Cal., December 1, 1963, and her son-in-law, Fred Havel, March 1, 1964.
She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Emma Havel; five sons, James, Emil, Adolph, Lee, and Arvil; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
