(Ref: CARLSBAD CURRENT-ARGUS, Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico, reads as follows:

ARTESIA-- Francisco B. Berdoza, 69, of Chimeso Road, died Friday, Sept. 6, 1996, at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at Terpening & Son Chapel with Richard Leaton officiating. Burial will follow at San Marcos Cemetery. A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. today, also at the Terpening & Son Chapel.

Terpening & Son Mortuary, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Berdoza was born on May 11, 1927 to Agapito Berdoza and Rosalia Baeza, in Ruidosa, Texas.

He married Maria Bustamante in August of 1949. She died on Aug. 5, 1970. He married Carmen Munoz in September of 1971 in Carlsbad.

Mr. Berdoza moved to Artesia in 1959. He was a farm laborer.

He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses, Spanish congregation.

Survivors include his wife, Carmen of Artesia; sons, Frank Berdoza, Steve Berdoza and Harvey Berdoza of Artesia, Manuel Berdoza and Agapito Berdoza of Carlsbad, Luis Berdoza of Odessa, Texas, Alfredo Berdoza of Ft. Worth, Texas, Guillermo Berdoza of Hobbs and Jaime Berdoza of Portales; daughters, Gloria Berdoza of Hobbs, Isabel Franco, Linda Zamarron, Monse Munoz, Sally Herrera, Yolanda Fuentes and Brenda Berdoza of Artesia, Eufelia Sanchez and Mary Berdoza of Lovington, and Elena Renteria of Mentone, Texas; brothers, Manuel Mendoza of Casper, Wyo., Tomas Verdoza and Angel Verdoza of Phoenix, Ariz., Marcelino Galindo and Ruperto Verdoza of Artesia and Pilar Vasquez; sisters, Praxedis Hernandez of Chihuahua, Mexico, Dominga Ramirez of Texas and Virginia Valencia of Artesia; 43 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son and two grandchildren.
