MARV ADAMS
Dr. Howard Marvin (Marv) Adams died April 12, 2001, at age 79.
Marv was born February 18, 1922, in Mound City, Kansas. He came with his family to Corvallis, Oregon in 1939. Marv earned a B.S. in animal husbandry from Oregon State College in Corvallis. He married Claire Luethe of Portland, Oregon in 1943, and then served as a Captain in the U.S. Army anti-aircraft artillery in Europe during World War II. Upon returning to the USA, he entered Washington State University, where he earned a D.V.M. in veterinary medicine in 1951. He first practiced veterinary medicine in Arcata, California, and then in Astoria, Oregon from 1953 through 1974. When he retired, Marv invested in commercial real estate and enjoyed gardening with Claire. They traveled in the US and Europe, and they especially enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren. Marv and Claire attended the First Baptist Church in Portland, Oregon.
Survivors include his wife, Claire; daughter, Jennifer Saks; son, Gregory; and two grandchildren, Emilie and Matthew Saks. Marv was preceded in death by another grandson, Nathan Saks.
A graveside service was held at the Old Phillips Cemetery, led by Rev. Carl Jones of First Baptist Church, Portland. Remembrances to the Elsie Stuhr Senior Center meals-on-wheels program in Beaverton. Arrangements by Bronleewe-Bass Funeral Home.
