Alice A. Guthrie, 93, of Kellersburg, Templeton RD 2, died Thursday morning, Sept. 29, 2005, following a brief illness.
Born Jan. 12, 1912, in Kellersburg, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of H. Bertram and Elizabeth Milne Hetrick. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Guthrie was a lifelong member of Kellersburg Evangelical Missionary Church and was the oldest member of the church. She also was a member of the "Call to Prayer" prayer group.
She was married in 1938 to Paul Harry Guthrie, who died in November 1983. Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis A. Easley and husband, James, of Kittanning, and Lois E. Shaffer and husband, Thomas, of Dayton; four grandchildren, Gerald Easley of Ford City, Benita Easley Haneke of Kittanning, Julie Shaffer Lockhart of Dayton and Christopher Shaffer of Camp Hill; and four great-grandchildren, Vanessa and Shannon Haneke of Kittanning and Rachel and Sara Lockhart of Dayton.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Guthrie was preceded in death by four sisters, Grace Shoemaker, Ada Hetrick, Edna Hetrick and Florence Guthrie.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home
with the Rev. Ben Shindledecker, pastor of Kellersburg Evangelical Missionary Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in Kellersburg Evangelical Cemetery.
