Harley was born August 15, 1930, to Phillip and Elsa (Klemm) Mundy in Browns Valley, MN. He was baptized into the Lutheran Church and was later confirmed.
Harley grew up in Browns Valley where he attended school. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in December of 1947, retiring from service in September of 1968. Harley earned a Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, and several other awards while serving his country. After his 21 years of service, Harley worked various jobs at the City of Browns Valley, Ewald's and Reed's Fish Companies, and several gravel trucking jobs including the construction of the Big Stone Power Plant.
On August 10, 1970, Harley married Marian (Pitzl) McLane. Harley and Marian made their home along Lake Traverse for many years. Recently, Harley purchased a house in town, where he currently resided.
Harley was a member of the Browns Valley American Legion. He enjoyed spending time outside gardening, fishing, and tinkering with anything he could find. An important part of his day began with his morning coffee at BJ's with Tami, Becky, and the crew. He loved to tell stories and jokes to make people laugh. Grandkids, country music, campfires, and watching his animals roam were Harley's great passions.
