ACCIDENT VICTIM DIES AT HOSPITAL Leroy H. Allen, 46, Injured in Crash at South Bay, Passes Away in Oneida. Durhamville, June 2 – Leroy H. Allen, 46, lifelong resident of this village, died at 11:30 o’clock Tuesday night at City Hospital, Oneida, where he had been a patient since late Memorial Day. He suffered a fractured neck and other injuries in an accident on the South Bay-sylvan Beach Road, when the car in which he was riding overturned in a ditch. The care was driven by Thomas Ennis of Durhamville. He was a son of the late Moses and Elvira Allen and was born September 3, 1889. In 1909 he married Miss Esther Well. For the past 15 years he had conducted a taxi business in Oneida. He was a member of St. Francis Church. Surviving, besides his widow, is a daughter, Ruth Marie Allen at home, and a brother, Carl S. Allen of this village. ---------------------------- Utica Daily Press Thursday, June 4, 1936 Le ROY ALLEN Funeral Saturday for Crash Victim DURHAMVILLE - A solemn high Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Church Saturday morning for LeRoy H. Allen, 466, Oneida, taxi operator, who died yesterday in City Hospital, Oneida of a broken neck suffered Saturday in an auto crash. The Rev. Edmund J. Codd, pastor, will be the celebrant; the Rev. Joseph Ellis, Syracuse, deacon; the Rev. Jerome F. McCarthy, Utica, sub-deacon and the Rev. William Brennan, Clark Mills, master of ceremonies. The three assisting priest are all former Durhamville pastors. Burial will in Irish Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Allen was born in Durhamville, Sept. 3, 1889, a son of Mr. And Mrs. Moses Allen. He conducted a taxi business in Oneida for 14 years. When a young man, he was employed in the Pratt Chuck Company and the Dodge Pulley Company plants in Oneida. He married Esther Wells, Durhamville in June 1903. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Ruth Marie Allen and a brother, Carl Allen, Durhamville.
