Funeral services for Hugh "Bugs" Evey were held Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Geary with Rev. Josh Blevins officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Cemetery. Mr. Evey was born Jan. 30, 1952, in Miles City, Mont., to Elmer and Lillian (Hicks) Evey. He passed away on June 4, 2009, in El Reno at the age of 57. Bugs graduated from East Newton High School in Granby, Mo. He later attended Canadian Valley Vo-Tech where he learned the heating and air business.
He was united in marriage to Sandra Coe on Feb. 5, 1972, in Ritchey, Mo. They have lived in Geary since 1979. He worked as a heat and air service tech for S&J Heating and Air for the past 15 years. Bugs enjoyed going to the casino and playing slots, loved to tinker with things, loved his corgi, Kippy, and most of all he loved his family. He was a Boy Scout leader with his grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra of the home in Geary; two children, John Evey and Karen Evey, both of Geary; two grandchildren, Tyler and Delicia Evey of the home; his father, Elmer Evey of El Reno; a brother, David Evey of Soap Lake, Wash.; sisters, Donna Sykes and Pat Ford and husband, Jim, all of Geary; his mother-in-law, Mary Almon; and many nieces and nephews, including Renee` Compton and husband, Shane of New Carlisles, Ohio, and Robbie Ford of Clinton; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Ashley.
