Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Tillman and Emma Walton Rodgers. She had been a homemaker and member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son; daughters, including Willie Duval of Columbia (now deceased); sister, Annie Powell of Ward (now deceased); brothers, including Gwen Rodgers of Edgefield (now deceased); six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Gertrude Rodgers, Ida Fredette; brothers, Wade, Marion and Homer Rodgers; and one grandchild.
