MRS. SARAH (CARTWRIGHT) BLACK
Returning to his home at 119 Liberty Street, Williamsburg, from his work, at 4:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon, William H. Black found his wife, Mrs. Sarah Black, dead at the bathroom door, where she evidently had taken ill with a heart attack some time during the afternoon. Mr. Black left the home at noon and his wife then apparently was all right. She conversed with a neighbor about 1:30 o'clock but was not seen after that. Mrs. Black had not been in the best health for some time but was able to do her work
and on Sunday visited a brother, who is ill, at Oreminea.
She was a daughter of James and Margaret (Gunnett) Cartwright and was born on Aug. 11, 1872, at Hopewell. She was united in marriage with William H. Black on Aug. 22, 1893, at Williamsburg.
Surviving are the husband, four children, Roy Black of Akron, O., Arthur Black of Altoona, Charles Black and Mrs. Cecil Parks, both of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren, and three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Andrew Black of Altoona, Mrs. John Gingrich of Philadelphia, Mrs. Ellen Stevens of Williamsburg and George Cartwright of Oreminea.
Mrs. Black was a member of the Williamsburg Methodist Church.
The body will be taken to the home this evening where it may be viewed until the time for the funeral which will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of her pastor, Rev. Ralph W. Knittle. Interment will be made in the Williamsburg Presbyterian Cemetery.
