OBITUARY -- BUCHHOLZ

Charles Frederick William Buchholz was born at Jagou, near Bernstein, Pommern, Germany, on the 7th of June 1845. He served his country during two wars, that of Schleswig Holstein in 1864 and that with Austria in 1866 and was wounded twice.

He was married to Wilhelmine Kuhl, in February 1865 and to this union seven children were born. In 1868 he immigrated with his family to this country and settled in Dane County, Wisconsin. In 1873, he came to Ontario, Monroe County and became one of the pioneer settlers in Bray Valley. In the year 1877, on the 17th of December , his wife died. On August the 26th, 1878, he was united in marriage to Sophia Schell, to this union eleven children were born, two of which preceded the father in death.

Mr. Buchholz was an industrious, hard working man, a loving husband, a kind father and a man of fairness and justice. The past four years he had been ailing more or less of the time and became seriously ill about Easter time, growing steadily worse and suffering much pain up to the time of his death, which occurred the fifth of May, 1921. He reached the ripe age of 75 years, 10 months and 28 days. He leaves to mourn, his widowed wife and following children:

Children of the first union -- Mrs. Mel Benidict, of Sparta; Frank Buchholz, Oil City; Mrs. Anna Van Kirk, Mrs. Gustav Zimmerman, Merrilan; Carl Buchholz, Humbird; Mrs. Geo. Morgan, Elroy; Mrs. W. Kirkhime of Wellington.
