Charles Sheldon Arnold was born 1900 in Barnwell Precinct, Craven County, NC, 3rd of 7 known surviving children (4 boys/3 girls) born to Herbert Lane Arnold, Sr. & Pearl Vernon Kilpatrick.

He is the paternal grandson of James Arnold (dec'd) & Caroline Matilda Lane (widow of Joseph Hartley and later wife of Harry Kilpatrick) of New Bern, Craven Co; and gr-grandson Elisha Allen & Susan Smith of Perfection, Craven Co. He is the maternal grandson of John Lewis Kilpatrick & Frances Holland Moseley of Lenoir County, NC.

Both the Arnold and Lane family have long roots in Craven county, but the Herbert Lane Arnold Sr. moved his family to the Garner area sometime after 1920. Charles was part of this move.

Charles Sheldon never married and died 1964 at age 64.

His parents and brother, Herbert Lane Arnold, Jr., are buried here.
