Reverend Paul Lusk, 87, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 21, 2016. Paul grew up in in meager circumstances during the Great Depression. He was employed as a coal miner at the Slab Fork Coal Company in Alpoca until retirement. During that time, he preached numerous revivals and church meetings after long, hard days of mining coal and farming. Few things excited Paul more than sharing the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Paul began his pastorship at Spruce Grove Baptist Church and founded the Alpoca PCG in 1955 along with his late wife Lessie McKinney Lusk and their three children who gave him great joy. He then pastored many other churches including Clark's Gap School House Church, Lashmeet Store Front Church, Princeton "Bull Dog" Smith Church, Sandlick Church, Corrine PCG, Mary Branch PCG and Midway PCG. Paul pursued his 67 years of dedicated service unto the Lord Jesus Christ through the West Virginia Pentecostal Church of God where he served as Bishop for 14 years and District Presbyteryn for 16 years.

Born January 16, 1929 at Bud, he was the son of the late Rev. Linden Lusk (Deceased) and Lillian Bell-Lusk (Deceased). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Eugene Lusk (Deceased) & wife Ethel Lusk, Bill Lusk & wife Margret Lusk, Jess Goad, Jess Tolliver; his doting daughter, Layla Joyce Lusk-Graham (1948–2013) & husband Dearl "Ray" Graham (1937-2016); and his first and second wives, Lessie McKinney-Lusk (1925–1975) whom he married on September 6, 1947 in Itmann, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1947, Page 498, Application Date: August 30, 1947), and Wilma Stover-Lusk (1931-2001).

Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his loving and devoted wife, Ellen Jack Bailey-Lusk; two sons, Rev. Lenuel Paul Lusk & wife Faye Lusk of Yadkinville, NC and Rev. Lacy Lee Lusk & wife Delores Lusk of Beckley; step-son, Billy Wayne Bailey, Jr. & wife Allison Bailey of Culloden; siblings, Carrie Lusk-Tolliver of Pierpoint, Naomi Lusk-Kaufman & husband Bob Kaufman of Booneville NC, Wanda Lusk-Goad of Winston-Salem NC, Jack Lusk & wife Orpha Lusk of Matoaka, and Emma Jean Lusk-Polly & husband Bo Polly of Orlando FL; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; his congregants at the Alpoca Pentecostal Church of God and many other family and friends.
