He was retired and worked most of his life for a Texas automatic sprinkler company.
He was a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Kemp Ames a son David Ames of Long Beach, California, and one grandchild.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church with Eddie Addison officiating.
Burial will be in the Rowell Cemetery in Cleveland County, by Buie Funeral Home of Rison, Arkansas
