U.S. Veteran BERT WESLEY BAXTER
Bert Wesley Baxter, 100, of Gainesville, MO passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 in Mountain Home, AR. He was born on February 15, 1915 in Thayer, MO, the son of Edgar and Nina Bell (Stutsman) Baxter.
He met and married Louella May Honstead on January 1, 1947 in Garden City, KS. The couple later moved to Howards Ridge, MO where they raised two children. Bert was a long-time employee at Powell Hardware in Mountain Home, AR.
He is survived by one daughter Patricia “Pattie” Britt and Mike Britt of Howards Ridge, MO; one son Lowell E. “Butch” Baxter of Gainesville, MO; his grandchildren Dean and Patricia Britt of Howards Ridge, MO, Wes and Amy Britt of Howards Ridge, MO, Rocky and Sherri Britt of Mountain Home, AR, Joe and Heather Britt of Clarkridge, AR, Stacey and Berry Skiver of Howards Ridge, MO, Bert Eugene Baxter and Billie Jo Baxter; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louella Baxter in February of 2014; his parents Edger and Nina Bell Baxter; four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services for Bert will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Care Manor Nursing & Rehab in Mountain Home, AR. Arrangements are by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
