Mr. Baldwin was born March 31, 1954, the son of the late John B. and the late Wilma (Billie) Baldwin.
He attended First Baptist High School and the College of Charleston, where he became a member of Sigma Nu fraternity.
Mr. Baldwin was involved in the theatrical arts from an early age, beginning with his work as an apprentice projectionist with his uncle Frampton Baldwin, his management of Regency Theaters in Augusta, GA, to his work with Spoleto and several other shows and venues as an IA union member and official.
John was a member of The First Baptist Church of Charleston, SC.
Survivors include his uncle Oran Baldwin and aunt Emily Baldwin of McClellanville, SC as well as many cousins and second cousins.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Old St. Andrews Church Cemetery, July 9, at noon.
