Edgar Albert Algere Sr. died on Wednesday, January 12, 2005. A native and a resident of New Orleans, LA.

Son of the late Gabriel Algere and Mabel Priestley Algere. Husband of the late Mathilda Robertson Algere. Father of Pearl Algere-Lonian, Lucille Algere- Knox, Edgar Albert Algere Jr., Sheila Morton, Darryl K. Algere, Donna Reed, Cynthia Carter, Gerald S. Algere and Gina Algere. Father-in-law of Wendell J. Knox Sr., Audrey Algere, Hubert Morton Jr., Will Percy Reed, Donna McCoy-Algere and Kenneth Taylor. Brother of the late Lucille Algere Collins and Marie Algere Alexander. Brother-in-law of Dorothy Robertson and Matthew B. Collins Sr. Also survived by a host of much loved grandchildren, Wendell Jr., Tara, Andrea, Glenda, Terrence, Ebony, Ayanna, Matthew, Saleama, Damion, Kayla, Bronsyn, Clinton, Mireille, Edgar III, Heather, Danielle, Lafayette, Brittainy, Dana, Brandon, Maya, Jordan, Brianna and Simone, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family, priest and parishioners of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, members of Holy Ghost Parish, members of the Holy Ghost Parish Holy Name Society and members of the retired Federal Postal Employees Association. Employees and staff of Xavier University of Louisiana, The New Orleans Job Corps Center, the Entergy/Saia Company, the New Orleans Department of Homeland Security Office/Protective Services Office, Department of Social Services/Office of Family Support and Consumer Credit Counseling Agency are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, January 21, 2005 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 2015 Louisiana Avenue from 8:30 AM until 9:45 AM.
