Edmond Shumake, 71, of Broken Bow, passed away Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999, at Broken Bow Nursing Home. He was born Jan. 15, 1928, at Broken Bow, the son of Ado and Ida Shumake.
Edmond was a retired postal service worker, affiliated with Goodland United Methodist Church, was an auto mechanic, and had lived in this area the last 10 years, moving from Kansas City, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ado Shumake; one son, Eddie Shumake; one brother; one sister; and a close friend, Gwendolyn Battiest.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Ida Temple of Broken Bow; six daughters, Cynthia Maxwell of Idabel, Pamela Dicus of Denver, Colo., Janice Shumake of Oklahoma City, Sandra Shumake of Lawton, and Valerie Gentry and Candida Battiest, both of Broken Bow; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brumley-McCurtain Chapel, Broken Bow, with Bro. Harvey Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Goodland Cemetery, Broken Bow.
