JOHN SIMON, a well known colored man about town, died at Bellevue and was buried on Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock, at Bellevue.
Simon was want to tell how he walked to Hagerstown from Sharpsburg, which was his home, at the time the fair grounds were located near the City Park.
He was a sort of orderly and booster for the Western Enterprise Fire Co. in its early history. Later in life he was an orderly with Company B and accompanied them South. He was also an orderly for the Municipal Band. At one time he worked for Charles Futterer and Charles Henneberger.
Simon claimed to be nearly 90 year's old.
