She was born on November 17, 1930 to William and Libby (Janovsky) Brabec in Moose Lake, MN. Arlene grew up on the family farm in Denham, where she helped out on the dairy farm. She traveled with her husband during his military career and lived in Japan. She moved to Silver Bay in 1955. Arlene was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, dancing polkas, crocheting, fishing, cooking, and baking. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Edmund.
Arlene is survived by her children; Mark (Roxanne) Kane of Poulsbo, WA, and Karen (Charles) Erickson of Proctor; grandchildren, Kelsey Kane, Charles (Jenna) Erickson, Kelly (Joe) Bennett, and Brian (Gay) Melde; great grandchildren, Madison and Libby Bennett, and Bailey Melde; and sister-in-law, Pat Misukanis.
The family would like to thank the staff of Chris Jensen and Essentia Hospice, especially Arlene's nurse Sharyn for their loving care and support.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Silver Bay. Burial will follow at Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery.
