Mrs. Otto Adams
Mrs. Harriet Ellen Adams, wife of Otto A. Adams, collector on a C. & N. W. suburban train, died at their home on Garfield street last Monday morning at 6:15 o'clock following an illness of seven weeks duration.
Mr. and Mrs. Adams came to Barrington about 3 years ago, and since that time Mrs. Adams has made many sincere friends who were deeply grieved to hear of her demise.
She was especially active in lodge circles, being a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Royal Neighbors, and Woman's Relief Corps, and was Worthy Matron of the former order.
Mrs. Adams was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Thayer of Chicago, and was born in that city on April 9, 1872. Her father is now dead and her mother is Mrs. J. B. Tye. There are three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Blair, and Lillian and Grace Thayer, the latter two of whom make their home in Chicago with their mother. One son, George, is in California.
Mrs. Adams was also a member of the Philathea class of the Salem Sunday school, and was a regular attendant at its meetings.
The funeral service will be held at the home Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and at the Salem church at 2 p.m., the pastor of that church, Rev. B. R. Schultze, officiating. The local chapter of the order of Eastern Star will have charge of the services at the grave. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
