Funeral services for Mrs. Albert Acker, 42, prominent Olney civic and church leader were held at the First Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of well known pioneer residents, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Young. She was preceded in death by her father, her mother still lives in Archer City.

After attending grade school and two years of high school in Archer City, she finished at Paschal High School in Fort Worth, and was graduated from Texas Christian University in 1926.

It was at TCU that she met her husband, they were married the evening he received his degree on 11 June 1928.

In September, 1928, the young couple came to Olney, where he was athletic coach and she taught in the primary grades. They taught in Borger in 1933 and returned to Olney in July 1934. Mr. Acker became manager of the Community Public Service Company here.

On 15 July 1944, Mr. and Mrs. Acker and her brother, W.C. Young, Jr. of Archer City, purchased the W.C. Harrell Furniture and Hardware Company. The firm became known as Acker-Young Company. Mrs. Acker served as bookkeeper until becoming ill.

Mrs. Acker was a member of the Olney School board and as a mark of respect, schools and business hours in Olney remained closed during the funeral.

A faithful member of the First Baptist church, she was a Sunday school teacher, Superintendent of the Primary Department, active in training union. She was past president of the Junior Altruistic study Club in Olney and active in library work.

Mrs. Acker's chief hobby is helping those who need help.

Rev. J.H. Wright, former pastor of the Olney First Baptist church and now paster in Levelland, and Dr. Cal Guy of the Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth officiated.

Rev. Cuort Flint, present pastor, was scheduled, but was unable to attend due to his studies in completion of his doctorate in Kentucky at the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville.

Survivors husband; twos sons - James Ray and Albert Sidney, Jr. of Olney; mother - Mrs. W.C. Young, Sr. of Archer City; two brothers - W.C. Young of Archer City; L.J. Young of Bryan.
