Hollis Burnette entered into eternal rest Oct. 2, 2014, in Tucson. He was born Dec. 29, 1939, to Martin and Mary Burnette.

Hollis loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed camping every summer at R-14 Camp Meeting and Hawley Lake. He liked playing basketball and watching basketball games.

He is survived by his wife, Marie D. Burnette; sons Delvin Bernette and Duane Burnette; daughter Bernita Brooks; grandchildren Wacey Brooks, Cody Brooks, Shafawn Brooks and Tony Brooks; nine great-grandchildren; sisters Lorraine Endfield, Eva Sands and Verlita Beatty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Mary Burnette, sisters Julia Burnette, Wanda Burnette and brothers Otis Burnette and Laben Burnette.

A wake was held Oct. 9 in Rainbow City. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Cedar Creek Assembly of God, with interment to follow at the Red Hills Cemetery.
