CRYSTAL — Services for Franklin NMN Begay, 54, will be 10 a.m., July 16, at the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church, Crystal.
Begay died July 12, 2008, in Gallup. He was born April 20, 1954, in Fort Defiance, into the Tohani People Clan for the Tabaahi People Clan.
Begay grew up in Crystal and Provo, Ut. He graduated from Provo High School, Provo, Ut. He served a 2 year mission from the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church in London, England. He later went to school at Brigham Young University and University of New Mexico. Begay held various construction and management jobs. He enjoyed partaking in the Jesus Christ of Latter--days Saints Church activities and working on his family's fields, taking care of his livestock, participating in shoe games and assisting community and family members in social, religious activities. He maintained close ties with his foster family, the Clarks, of Provolovem, Ut.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Lee Begay of Fort Defiane; step-sons, Lydell Pahe, Lee Pahe, of Fort Defiance; brothers, Christopher Begay, Ross Begay Jr., John R. Begay, Richard Begay, Robert M. Begay, Daryl R. Begay, Michael S. Begay, of Crystal; sisters, Theresa Kedelthy, Sharlynne Louis, Betty Roanhorse, Sharon Begay, Patricia Begay, Rose Marie Moore, of Crystal.
Begay was preceded in death by his father, Ross Begay Sr.; mother, Denetso Begay Wilson; sister, Rebecca J. Begay, Regina J. Begay, Deanna R. Begay; brothers, Toledo R. Begay; step-son, Lyndol Pah.
Pallbearers will be Ross Begay Jr., David Yazzie, Randy Berry, Larry Golbe, John Ross Begay, Emerson Steven Shirley.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Theresa Kegelty's residence, following services.
