Date of birth calculated from death record; William died on 6 Mar 1905 at age 63 years, 6 months, 13 days.

William was the son of Eli & Sally (Slawson) Cross. He married Jennie Lee on 7 Feb 1862 in Rock county, Wisconsin. After William served in the Wisconsin infantry during the Civil War, they moved to a farm in Olmsted county, Minnesota and then to a farm in Hanson county, South Dakota. In the late 1800's, they moved to Perham, Minnesota where William worked as a day laborer.
William passed away as a result of Uraemia (kidney failure) and heart disease.
William & Jennie had two children, Linnie (Mrs. J.L. Hicks) and Lewis.

*Note that obituaries of all 4 Cross family members (William, Jennie, Mrs. Linnie Hicks and Lewis) confirm the fact that they were all buried in the same cemetery next to each other. No footstones could be found by volunteer Travis who found the Cross Family Stone. If a family researcher would like more information please feel free to contact me. Out of respect for the Otter Tail County Historical Society, I will not be posting the obituaries on the memorials (Jennie's was already found online on a free genealogical site so I did post hers)
