O.F. (Soap) Hardman, 82, of San Saba, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Tx. He was born February 18, 1925 in Holt, Texas, the son of William Wesley Hardman and Mattie Wilburn Hardman.

On June 7, 1947 Obert Frank Hardman and Opaline Underwood were married in Brady, Texas. She preceded him in death in October 21, 1984.

O.F. joined the Naval Service and trained at Rodd Field in Corpus Christi as a Naval Avionics specialist. He served with the 54th CASU Squadron under Admiral Bull Halsey. He farmed peanuts and cotton in the Elm Grove Community and was well known for the watermelon crop he produced every year. In 1961 he became foreman of the Sloan Pool Ranch and "cowboyed" for 23 years. Following retirement he assisted in the management of the Egger Ranch in Mills County until 2003. Following health problems he resided the past 4 years at Baytown Healthcare and Rehab Center.

He is survived by two sons: Obert Dennis Hardman and his wife, Teresa, of San Saba, and William Wesley Hardman II and his wife, Rosy, of Sugarland, TX; two daughters: Cindy Sutley and her husband, Bob, of Plano, TX, and Dianna McDaniel and her husband, Duane, of Crosby, Texas; nine grandchildren: Tracey Bobo, Heather Hardman, Christa Carrell, Jaecob Hardman, Jared Dane McDaniel, Rachel Hardman, Chelsie McDaniel, Caelob Dane Hardman, and Jonathan Maxfield Hardman; one step-grandson Jeremy Gristy; three great-grandchildren: Braden Bobo, Regan Bobo and Morgan Hardman; four brothers: Alvin (Dink) Hardman of Houston; James Hardman and his wife, Frances, of Houston; Harold Hardman and his wife, Grace, of Richland Springs; and Wayne Hardman of Brownwood; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Opaline Hardman; one son, Wayland Dane Hardman; two brothers, Louie Hardman and R.C. Hardman; and two infant sisters.

Funeral Services were held Friday, January 18, 2008 at 10:00 am at The First Baptist Church in San Saba with Rev. Sam Crosby and Rev. G.W. Niederhofer officiating. Interment followed at the Sloan Cemetery.
