Burris Baker, Grand Island Native, Dead
Respected Resident Was A Carpenter By Trade; Rites at 9 Tomorrow
Death at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon in a Colusa hospital claimed Burris Baker, 64, well known and respected Grand Island native and a carpenter by trade. He had been in poor health for some time.
Quiet and mild-mannered, the deceased was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He had done carpentry work in many parts of the county and had lived in the Grand Island district most of his life.
The deceased was born at Grand Island on February 10, 1875, and was a member of a prominent pioneer Colusa county family. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Stephen Baker of Napa, Grover Baker of Colusa, Thad Baker of Sutter City, Dr. Henry B. Baker of Napa, Mrs. Ed Parry of Grimes and Miss Mary T. Baker of San Francisco. A son, Beverly Baker of Morgan Hill, also survives.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church here with interment in the family plot at Colusa Catholic cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Brothers.
Rosary will be said at 8 o'clock tonight at Sullivan Brothers chapel.
